ATC Dec - Jan Swap

Today I'm sharing 3 ATC's that I've completed.

1. Theme: Lighthouse. Group: Westfield. Date: Dec'.
I was shown how to create the background by Kyla some time ago and I finally had a chance to put the technique into practice. Using 4 different full pages from a magazine (approx. A4). I chose 2 pages out of a boating magazine, 1 was a full page add for shoes and the last was a map which I used as the base page as the quality of the paper was better. Make a watered down mixture of PVA (white glue) and use a sponge roller to quickly glue all 4 pages together. While they are still wet tear strips away, alternating the number of pages that you rip away, sometimes all 3 pages and other times just the top layer. The effect is unique as the layers of the different pages show through. I let my pages dry and then lightly sanded away any rough edges. I put the handmade paper through my printer and added the lighthouse and sentiment. I then simply cut them out to the standard ATC size of 3½" x 2½". Each one of them is different and it's a quick and easy method to create amazing backgrounds. You can also use ink to stain the torn white edges.

2. Theme: Steampunk. Group: Westfield. Date: Jan'
Creating the Steampunk ATC was fun and challenging as I'd never done this style before. Wikipedia describes steampunk as: Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them.
There are many different variations of this style but most of them all had one thing in common, fantasy, machanical and inventions. I hope you like my attempt at this style with clocks, clogs, keys and a monochrome of colour.

3. Theme: Nursery Rhyme. Group: Full Sleeve. Date: Dec'.
For this ATC I used a tri-fold template that I adapted from a card. I'm so glad that I was working in ATC size as I stuffed up 5 of them before I worked out how to make the folds work. The folding part took the longest as the filling in of each section with images and papers was easy. I adore the picture of 'Little Miss Muffet' and I enlarged the spider to put into the last section.

It's a great feeling to be ontop of commitments and I'm looking forward to the upcoming month of ATC's.
