Auction for Australian Flood Appeal - Monochrome

Up for Auction

What started out as a card ended up being too big, so it's now a scrapbook layout. I used my fund raising digital 'Rainy Days' as my focal point. The cute little digital is available from my store for only $1 and all money raised from the sale of it will be going to the Australian Flood Appeal. You can pick up the digital Here!

I am putting this layout up for auction on my facebook page and the highest bidder will win. So if you would like to own a little piece of my artwork and at the same time know that your winning bid will be going to the Australian Flood Appeal, you will need to check out my facebook page Here! Please help me, Help them by spreading the word with your family and friends.

Close Up of my Auction Layout for the Australian Flood Appeal

I was inspired by two wonderful challenges that are taking place at the moment to have a go at colouring in a monochrome style. With the amazing examples that their individual design team members shared I was able to get my head around what I was suppose to create. Thank goodness that most of the challenges that are out there have a team behind them that are willing to provide their creations and share the details on how they made it. I would be lost other wise. I was very eager to give this style a go and below is a list of my how I did it.

The reciepe:

  • The 'Rainy Days' digital is coloured with a selection of grey copics. C0, C2, C5, C7.
  • I created the matting behind the digital on the computer, using newpaper clippings about our January 2011 Flooding here in Brisbane and surrounding areas.
  • The journalling was also created and then printed out on the computer.
  • The background paper is by Kaisercraft from their Duchess Collection. Not that you can see much of the paper after I'd finished splattering it with watered down white acrylic paint. I also created circles with two different sized lids dipped in the same paint mix and stamped onto the paper.
  • The ribbon is another strip of the background paper.
  • Dimensional Magic is on the raindrops and little puddles.
  • Embellishments are silver photo corners and silver brads.
  • The little florish is a lazer cut design from Make it Crafty that I gave a quick coat of copic E29 Burnt Umber to so that it would match the backgroud colour.
  • The whole inside oversized card is then placed sideways onto a very funky piece of cardstock with gitter letters already on the paper. (sorry no idea who made this as it was in my stash)
  • I've entering my oversized card or scrap page into the following challenges:
