Christmas Freebie

Christmas time would have to be my all time favourite time of the year. I adore looking at the shops with their Christmas decorations, the houses along the streets all lit up with lights, the special yummies that are reserved for this special occasion and of course the getting together of family and friends. I'm a little behind in my own Christmas preparations, so I hope you are doing better than I am. New Nana Vic's Challenge

It seems like forever since I've made a post in blogland and in truth it has been. Due to medical reasons almost everything that involved vison had become impossible for me to see. I won't go into details as I'd like to put the time I spend in the dark world behind me and move forward into the glorious light. I would however like to give my heartfelt thanks all my internet friends that had me in their thoughts / prayers during my long absence. Bless you my friends.

Below is the card that I created for a good friends 21st Birthday. The digital "Bicycle" is a new design that will be available in store very soon. (I just have to get my head around the html coding again as I am very rusty). The image is coloured in with copics, the black lace doily was created using ‘Multi-Shaper’ by allDeco Punch, the numbers, rose flower and leaves were cut with dies and the papers and flowers were all from my stash.

Digital Stamp Bird Cage Roses and blog hop

Digistamps4Joy's New Beginnings Blog Hop has just began. You start at DigitalStamp4joy original site and continue through until you end up at their new DigitalStamps4joy site. There is 8 fabulous sites to explore inbetween, all of them offering a blog hop prize, just for leaving a comment and becoming a follower. How easy is that?

Introducing my new digital stamp called 'Bird Cage Roses' that will be available in my store soon. For now if your quick you'll be able to pick it up for free in the current round of the progressive challenges at Crafters Digital Arts Center. Details below. I designed this digital for my eldest daughter which adores all thing shabby chic. It was a little tricky to create the card without her seeing, but she took off early on the morning of her birthday and I was able to put it together before she returned.

The image was coloured with copic pens. I used a mask to create the white scroll in the background and sponged over it with lolly pink stamping ink. I also added the same sponging to one corner of the main image so that the stick on 'Happy Birthday' would stand out. The doily under the pretty little flower arrangement was lightly stained as well. I made a little stick pin for her and the butterfly was silver but I used a yellow/gold copic pen to give it the appearance of gold. Worked really well. The finishing touches are the simple bow with the long ends and the little group of pearls in 2 of the corners.

 

The inside was keep very simple with the paper I used doing most of the work for me. After scanning the front image I used it again inside on the side of the card where I placed a birthday verse.

Say it with flowers New Digital

Here’s my second design for the new digistamp drawing challenge at CDAC. Priscilla asked us to think outside the box and this is what I came up with. Many of us will never see the spectacular colours that can be found growing in the biggest garden on earth, so I thought I'd bring just a small section to the surface. I hope you'll enjoy my 'Coral Garden' and I was thinking that even the guys could appreciate this digital stamp. Let your imagination run free with what colours you choose.

The theme for March is "Say it with flowers" and include a sentiment. I have to admit that it did take me sometime to find a sentiment for this one but after I found it, I couldn't have been more pleased. I hope you'll agree!

Digital drawing challenge Gumnuts

Here’s my first design for the new digistamp drawing challenge at CDAC. I've no idea how many times I've painted gumnuts in flower over the years and I thought it about time that I shared one as a digital stamp. The digital gumnut stamp set that will be available in store soon, includes 3 slightly different gumnut digitals, an oval frame with gumnuts blank and with the senitment already in place and lastly a precoloured blank oval.

The theme for March is "Say it with flowers" and include a sentiment.

Surf'n Santa Card

I am so excited to finally have found an Australian site that is all about copics. So far with my browsing and reading I've found it very helpful and mostly inspirational. Many tutorials to be read to improve your copic skills. But best of all links to where I can purchase copics so that I can build up my collection. What's the Challenge?

This month is a colour challenge.  

Create a project (card, layout, off the page) using ANY of the Copic Marker Colours on the list above!!! (R46, R59, G40, BG53, BG93, BG96, E87, BV31, RV55, YR24, V20, V25)....or as close to as possible.

How lucky was I to stumble upon copic oz to find out that if I got a wriggle on I could enter their latest challenge. I'd only just printed out 'Surf'n Santa' to colour as a sample for the upcoming new digital image for my store and had him sitting there waiting for me to make a start on him. I was so pleased to discover that in my limited supply of copic sketch markers that I had 3 of the colours listed above. R59 (Cardinal) G40 (Dim Green) and YR24(Pale Sepia). I do think that Santa is a giving himself away with his holly covered board-shorts and his monogrammed initials on his tank top. I coloured him and then cut him out and pop dotted him onto the front of my card. I created the waves in the top corner by ripping the metallic blue paper, roughly curling the edges and layered them on top of each other. 

I still consider myself a novice when it come to designing cards but there is always one place that I head to first for inspiration and that is over my my mate Priscilla at her monthly sketch challenge.

Midnight Madness FEB Monthly Sketch Challenge #135 (MMSC135)

 Her design team with their amazing samples inspire me and kick my own mojo into gear to come up with something. As the sketch had 2 triangles to work with, I found that it was perfect to adapt to a folded card so that Santa also became apart of the inside design. I kept the inside simple with a small arrangement of hand picked shells from our golden beaches collected here on the Gold Coast. The Midnight Madness challenge also included a twist with a Valentines/Love themed creation and I think Santa's love of his favourite vacationing spot would count. Hence the blue heart.

Thank you to my daughter for taking the photo's for me in the daylight (I just don't get home from work in time to catch the natural light) and to Alex for a loan of his sandpit to act as the backdrop. I've never thought of taking an aerial shot before and was most impressed when I seen this one on the chip.

I am hoping to get the new 'Surf'n Santa' into my store this weekend along with the Easter bunny. I've also got 2 new word art sheets to prepare for My Store.

Santa's on Holiday - Digital Drawing Challenge

Here’s my first design for the new digistamp drawing challenge at CDAC. So far it's been a great weekend and the creative mojo is heading for a major overload with all the things that I have on the go. *Laughs*

The theme for February is "Critter Comedy or Crazy Characters ". 'Santa's Holiday' will be available in the store very soon, along with a new word art sheet with an Australian feel. Keep your eye out for the upcoming announcement.

Easter Card

G'day to my friends and followers in blogland. This is my first post for the year of 2012 and I am well rested after veg'n out for the last 2 months. I've done nothing exciting in that time that I could say is worth typing about. Enjoyed a huge Christmas with family, read books and slept a lot.
After much encouragement from some of my friends, I finally kicked myself in the butt to get myself out of my lack of mojo, inspiration and self indulgent habits. I'm happy now to enter back into my world of cyber friends and share some more digital images with you this year.

To entice my mojo into creative mode I thought I'd try making some handmade Fimo carrots. Not to difficult and it only took me 2 hours to hand sculpt the carrots. They looked good enough to eat with their orange bottoms and green tops...well that was before I cooked them to set the Fimo. It should have only taken 10 minutes but somehow I got sidetracked and they were in there for about 20mins. *Sad Face* as I dare to show you what happened.

*Laughs* not much different than my real cooking attempts. Oh well, time to apply what I always preach to my student; There are NO mistakes only creative challenges! A couple of coats of white gesso and some paint and nobody would ever know. *Smiles*. See the end results of the carrots in the Easter cards I made below.

Inside of the Easter Card. I keep it simple letting the beautiful words from Helen Steiner Rice's 'An Easter Prayer' pass on a special message to a few of my special online friends. The sentiment is just one of 10 that will be available on my new word art sheet 'Easter 2'. So keep your eye out for the upcoming word art sheet appearing in my digital store.

If I'm going to make one, I might as well make 8 *Laughs*.

Thinking of you Kay

The new sketch this week over at Midnight Madness was just perfect for a card I had to make this week for a lady at work that is not feeling very well. I used my own digital 'Doctor Jones' and used her favourite colours in the layout.

I kept the inside very simple as I knew that we all would be signing it and leaving Kay some personal messages of support and love. Even the back of the card had signatures all over it. The sentiments are all from my new word art sheet 'Spirital 1'

I'm also entering this card into the sketch challenge at Midnight Madness

CDAC Progressive Challenge cdacpc4 Second Entry

For this round (cdacpc4), the theme is Halloween or Mystical.
Bailey in Witch Hat Digital Stamp was provided by Sew Many Cards and was a delightful image to colour with my copics. I hope that is little cutie doesn't get a tummy ache from all the candy. The card is made out of handmade paper and the stamping didn't turn out to clearly as the paper soaked up the ink. The pumpkin was a button, ribbon from stash and the leaves were punched (Thanks Sharon, I'm using them sparingly). *Smiles*

Stardust Cowboy for the Drawing Challenge at CDAC
