A card I made...

The challenge this week at For Fun Challenge   is:  Anything Plus- a paper clip or safety pin - can be a funky shape clip or a colored or regular safety pin - no stick pins please.

I decided to kill 3 birds with one stone when I created this card. I knew I would be using my lastest digi 'Nana Vic Daisy Chains', I needed to make a birthday card for my youngest daughter and to slip in a paper clip was easy to meet the requirement for the challenge.

My daughters favourite colour is yellow and has been ever since she was about 2 and baby blue was the perfect contrast colour. I used just one of each colour in normal card stock. I brought the yellow lace, packet of the half pearly things, the over sized paper clip and paper daisy-like flowers (Bella). As I was arranging the layout in the shop (in my head) I wanted the paper lemon flowers to be layered but they were just too dull. I thought to myself what would Granny Carol do and there it was on the counter blue glitter. The rest of the flowers were in my stock (I've got a whole draw full of flowers from my earlier crafting days).

The colouring of the digi is a mixed bag of what I have. 4 copic markers, my 36 Tombows and water colour pencils. Now I don't know if anyone else uses all 3 to colour there images but I think overall they came together. I printed the digi on water colour paper and I did get some bleeding but even that wasn't too bad as I used that effect (yep! I meant to do that...LOL) to add the greyish tones or shadowing. The copics didn't like the paper at all as I couldn't get the skin to blend and their faces are blotchy, ok so maybe I was going for a sunburnt look, another effect maybe. *Laughs*

Putting the card together is self explainitory by the images. Now I know that the paper makers out there would have you cut the paper to size and just stick the next paper on the top and if you wanted the same paper inside to put another piece but I just think it's a waste. So the yellow card stock is just a frame around the blue card stock and I have a huge piece of yellow stock left over (another card perhaps). I taught my girls this method of framing with their papers instead of just wasting paper by covering it up, I realize that it's more time consuming to do this but think of all the paper you save.

I wanted to share with you the back. I thought I was making a fold card and this is how it was done by memory, I should have went and looked at a couple of tutorials to find out how they are done today. So my card is really a pop up card according to what I've read now. I've still got plenty of room above the tag sentiment to add my personal message and I'll put the words 'Happy 17th Birthday on the cover to fill in the space above the little girl.

I can't believe that 8 people of commented on the first image I posted in the wee hours of the morning and now I'm thinking that I've gone overboard with the text as I just added it tonight. *Shrugs* Maybe I'll get to a point where I can just post an image and not go into detail but for now I have time to write.

I've entered this card into the following Challenges:

How to go and catch up on my new followers =) and find some more yummy blog candy.

  4. Its so beautiful. I feel stupid though because I have no idea how it all works. Would I need to colour in the pictures after I buy them? Then do I make a card with the picture? Or do you send ready-made cards in the mail? I've been following and trying to figure out what these digi stamps are but I cant work it out!
