July Projects

I've had a couple of weeks off from the internet world but I have been catching up on half finished projects during this time.

The shimmery dragon is the card that I made for my good mate for his birthday. The dragon is a foil print that I cut out and created my own background for him to stand against. (Hint don't use a heat gun on the foil print as it lifted up the dragon in sections).

Side view so that you can see how far the wings and head of the dragon are lifted up from the card.

Below are my lastest ATC creations. CDAC has started a new section called SWAPS, where you can join the groups you want to and exchange ATCs or projects with others all around the world. There's something for everyone and I'm sure that if you popped on over for a look you'd be inspired to join in at least one of the swaps with other members from Crafters Digital Arts Center. I'm so excited about the ATC swap as it will be my first time sharing my little cards with others that are in my groups.

The first theme I chose to join was Swap No. 9- ATC Seasons Swap with EXTRAS(Summer group B) and I used my digital 'No Milk Today'. I hand coloured each of them a different colour, cut them out and then mounted them inside my fold ATC on some fresh golden 'Gold Coast' sand. The clouds are torn tissue paper, the sun is yellow kindy glitz and the little star is apart of the digital and is just burried in the sand. Imagine coming across this scene of relaxed cows all taking in the sun and sipping on their pineapple cocktails at your local beach.

Above is a close up of one of them and the front cover is a very simple design. The ATC does close flat and fits into a normal ATC sleeve. The extra requirement to go with this group was a few bling items.

The second one I joined was Swap No. 9- ATC Seasons Swap with EXTRAS(Fall group I). I still consider myself a very beginner when colouring with my copics and by using the digital from Nina (Artist from >Paper Cupcakes) called Flower I was able to practice some more colour combinations. The droplets of ink on the transparency made a great background for me to mount the little cut flowers on. I added little beads to the stamaes that matched at least one colour in the flowers. I finished them off with a bronze knot and a gold charm button. The extra requirement was to include 6 buttons.

I also created a digital that will be available in store soon that has a little caterpillar enjoying a trip on a falling leaf. Here's a little sneak peek of him.

  2. Vickie - WOW! Your ATC's are amazing, a folded one (like getting a mini card!) is something I never thought of. Plus you hand-colored all images, YIKES. I would have colored on the computer in layers for the different colors, but that's because that's all I know how to do. To be able to handcolor like you would be a dream come true!

  3. Hello dear friend, I just love the ATC's, I know I know I shouldn't have peeked but I couldn't resist *laughing* I wonder which colour I will get, oh I'm so excited. I did all mine the same so no arguments *laugh* I too didn't think about doing a mini card with a fold, didn't know that would count as an ATC so pleased I came and looked at yours. Your colouring of all the projects are amazing. Love them all...

  4. Your talent never ceases to amaze me. You are truly a fabulous artist. The dragon card is so cool. I'm sure cutting out the dragon (especially the small places) and adding the dimension was a little challenging.

Your ATC cards using the "No Milk Today" are just precious!! I have tried using real sand on a card once and was not happy as everytime you picked it up it seemed to lose some. What is your secret?

Your floral ATC cards are so pretty. Love the background and I am amazed how you did it. I would never have the guts to try it.

The caterpillar is just adorable. I think you told me once you can't draw bugs as they always look mean. Not this one. Let us know when it goes into the store. Can't wait!!!

    Hugs dear friend, Marla
